'House' Focuses On Thirteen

The boys are back in town; well, House and Wilson are not exactly boys, though they often act like them. In the latest episode of "House, MD" House is gleeful to get his best friend back, but it also has made him into quite an insecure mess. One lie from Wilson sends him spiraling into sneaky stalking again, but it also leads to one of the best pranks Wilson has ever done and therefore is worth it. Anyway, the episode "Lucky Thirteen" is actually focused upon the character of Thirteen who has been slowly going insane ever since she found out about her Huntington's Disease. A death sentence has that effect on people.
Thirteen acts out by taking drugs, staying out late drinking, and picking up random women at bars for trashy one-night stands. Her most recent lady Spencer turns out to be an unhealthy one and starts convulsing next to the bed. House is only too happy to take in the patient as long as he can make Thirteen uncomfortable and joke about her bisexuality. It is horribly misogynistic and yet Laurie is so funny ... somehow he manages to make it humorous rather than offensive! Foreman starts to get concerned for Thirteen's mindset when he realizes how much danger she is putting herself in, and Cuddy is dressing her down when House steps in. He protects her from Cuddy and then abruptly fires her. Yay! Yes! If only it would last!
It turns out that Spencer knew Thirteen worked for House and has been trying to get his attention for months. She feels ill but every doctor says nothing is wrong with her. Thirteen manages to get back into the case by saving Spencer from suffocating after they find cysts in her lungs. A mistaken diagnosis for a fatal disease brings Spencer and Thirteen closer together since they share a death sentence. Classically, Thirteen is less interested in her once she is going to live. And then she gets her job back. Sigh. Oh, and Cameron and Chase show up this episode. Briefly, although Foreman asks Chase whether or not he's boring, and Chase is everyone's hero by agreeing that he definitely, definitely is. This probably will lead to Foreman hooking up with Thirteen to be exciting.
PI Lucas shows up again to stalk Wilson, and House is actually quite shocked to find out what Wilson was really doing on his free time (note: not becoming House). It involves Cuddy adopting a baby, and House looks like someone just shot his puppy. This was an excellent episode and proves that the show really needed Wilson back to be at peace. Then again, it still is disappointing how quickly he has returned to the show. You really would think they could drag it out a few more episodes. It was great to see Wilson getting House back for his pranks with a really funny one, pretending to date a prostitute to freak House out. This episode dealt a great deal with Thirteen, and to be honest, she seems to be given more notice than the other two. It is a shame; where is the Kutner episode? Taub had his! They try too hard with Thirteen, and she still seems too dry and forced. Even Cameron is preferable, and she barely has thirty seconds per episode.
It looks like the Cuddy/House chemistry might just be paying off for all of you Huddy fans, so keep an eye on next week. Cuddy meets the surrogate mother and her future baby, but since this is "House, MD" the baby is sick and might just die. Cuddy can't really catch a break but maybe this time House will be there to comfort her for a change. "House" is on FOX on Tuesday night at 9 PM EST.
