David DuchovnyDavid Duchovny has followed through on his threat to sue Britain's Daily Mail over an article which alleged he was dating his tennis coach. The actor, who recently announced his marriage split from Tea Leoni, has filed a lawsuit against the newspaper claiming he was defamed by what editors published.

The Daily Mail reported that Duchovny had a "full-blown sexual affair" with Edit Pakay, 28 - a story the tennis coach has since denied.

In the lawsuit, filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Duchovny's lawyer states, "The story falsely alleges that Duchovny sought out Ms. Pakay to be his tennis instructor and that the 'professional relationship'... quickly turned into a love match."

The suit also points out the newspaper claimed Duchovny had said he would leave Tea Leoni for Pakay. Duchovny insists there was never a romantic relationship. The suit claims, contrary to the story, that Pakay never told the paper there was a romantic or sexual relationship.

According to TMZ.com, the actor wants at least $1 million in damages.
