Mel Gibson donates a staggering $10 million each year to the conservative Catholic sect he founded, financial reports reveal.
Paperwork obtained by Fauxnews.com shows business is booming at the Holy Family Catholic Church, which is now worth $42 million - thanks to a $9.89 million hand-out from Gibson in 2007, and a similar one the previous year. Money given to the church, which Gibson built on his Malibu, California estate - and boasts just 100 members - is all tax free.
Gibson's strong religious beliefs have been called into question in the past. His 2004 movie The Passion of the Christ was accused of encouraging anti-Semitism; and then in 2006 he fired off an anti-Semitic rant at police officers following his arrest for driving under the influence.
