R&B star Lyfe Jennings has been arrested after allegedly shooting a gun before speeding away from police and then refusing to take a sobriety test.

Police officials were reportedly called after the multi-platinum selling singer shot off a firearm in Smyrna, Georgia. According to celebrity website TMZ.com, Jennings rushed away from the scene, forcing police to give chase to the star, before he eventually crashed.

Jennings was charged with weapon possession by a convicted criminal and faces further charges of attempting to elude officers, firing a gun near a public highway and refusing to take a police DUI test.

In 1992, Jennings was sentenced to over ten years in jail after being found guilty of arson. He released his first album Lyfe 268-192 in recognition of his prison identification number.
