Actor Alec Baldwin has branded U.S. vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin "a good sport" for confronting Tina Fey over her comedy spoof.

Fey impersonated the Republican on comedy sketch series Saturday Night Live and has been blamed for the party's recent slip in the polls ahead of the presidential election next month. Palin also appeared on the show in a retaliation sketch with Baldwin. And the actor defended the decision to invite her on the NBC program.

He says, "When you come on a show like that, you are prepared in advance to get worked over. Palin knew that. Palin came on to be a good sport. And she was. She was polite, gracious."
