Reggae star Ziggy Marley is marking his 40th birthday on Friday by giving a fan the chance to join him in the recording studio.

The lucky winner of a charity auction will be able to watch Marley - the son of late music legend Bob Marley - lay down tracks for his new album.

The four-time Grammy winner promises the prize day will take place in Los Angeles later this year. The LP is due for release next spring.

The auction is in support of Tony Bennett's Exploring The Arts Holiday Auction, and proceeds will go towards promoting the arts in American schools.
