'One Tree Hill': The Love in Your Life

One Tree HillWhen you wake up everyday, what is it that you're waking up for? Your job, money, the person you love? Do we work to make money or make money to live? On One Tree Hill, many wake up next to the one they love and work toward their goal of becoming who they wish to be.

Last season, Nathan Scott's dreams of becoming an NBA basketball star were shattered when he became involved in a serious brawl that nearly left him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. After nearly a year of recovery and built up strength, Nathan has made an immense and courageous comeback. With the help of his family, friends and Raven teammates, Nathan continues to search for the right avenue to be back on the court as a player. Only two weeks after receiving the golden opportunity to become a D-league basketball head coach, Nathan gets a call about joining the Slamball team. With reservations of re-injuring his back, Nathan discusses the possibilities with his wife and decides to take the leap. Like any other "One Tree Hill" fan, I'm crossing my fingers for Nathan's safety. But knowing the writers, our favorite storyline needs drama - and an injury to our beloved basketball star may be just what we get in the near future.

Lucas Scott, who chose a life outside of being a basketball player, continues to pursue his writing career. When a large nationwide book tour lands in his lap, he eagerly accepts the challenge, though it means leaving Peyton Sawyer's side. His soon-to-be-wife, Peyton encourages him to embark on the journey, while she stays behind at her studio. Unfortunately, Lucas' editor and former fiancé, Lindsey, cancels her trip with Lucas at the last minute, leaving a replacement for the tour's initial date. After only signing two books, (one being a "Gossip Girl" book ha!), the newcomer informs Lucas the tour has been cancelled due to lack of interest. Despite his disappointment, Lucas finds happiness within himself as he realizes what he gets to head home to: Peyton.

Back at home, Peyton finds herself dealing with a past skeleton, as legendary guitarist, Mick Wolf continues to play in her studio. After finding him passed out cold, dirty and drunk, Peyton asks him to leave. Mick finally proves her suspicions correct and admits to being her biological father. Finally sober and back to normal, Mick confronts his daughter and gives her his most prized possession: Ellie's one-year sober token while she was pregnant with Peyton. He confesses to her that it's the one thing he has kept with him for 22 years - and that she saved Ellie's life. Realizing he is best on the road, Mick leaves for good. Guess in the end, Peyton always had it right: People always do leave. The silver lining? Maybe some leave for a good reason; to learn a lesson; to find true love, or to become a stronger person.

Mouth and Millicent previously moved to Omaha, Nebraska to remain together as Mouth pursues his career as a sports broadcaster. Becoming increasingly famous in the area, Mouth can't help but miss his love, Millicent as she eventually moves back to support Brooke in her time of need. After Lucas' book tour flops, Mouth makes the decision to move back home to Tree Hill. Mouth's dating report with girls hasn't always been stellar, and while he seems to fall in love with each girl he dates, I can't help but think that this relationship is different.

Millicent proves her loyalty to her boyfriend by choosing to quit her job with Clothes Over Bros and move to Nebraska with Mouth. After hearing about Brooke's difficult time with the company and her mother, Millicent moves back to support her close friend. Millicent continues to show Brooke her loyalty and love as she encourages her to heal herself first before her professional life can begin again. The two of them plan to sky dive and watch all James Bond movies, among other fulfilling life experiences. In turn, Brooke once again lends a hand and invites Sam, a homeless foster teen, to live in her house. As they say, what goes around comes around, and I'm certainly hoping good karma hits Brooke and Millicent soon!
