Christian Slater has given up hope of persuading his children to follow in his footsteps as an entertainer, because they don't care about his acting career. The Hollywood star admits he has tried to convince his son Jaden, nine, and daughter Eliana, seven, to take interest in his work, just like he was inspired by his own father's acting career.

But his attempts to intrigue the pair by inviting them on film and TV sets have fallen flat.

He says, "It's interesting. They don't seem to have any huge desire to get involved. I try and get them to come to the set to visit me and they're like, 'It's too far away.' They don't care. My daughter... will come when I'm doing a play and and sit in the balcony and watch us rehearse but my son could take it or leave it - he couldn't care less."
