Billy Bob ThorntonBilly Bob Thornton and late actor Heath Ledger were kindred spirits - they both hated Hollywood. Thornton - who worked with Ledger on the 2001 movie Monster's Ball - admits they shared a mutual dislike of the movie industry and unconventionally chose to snub the limelight.

And he insists filmmakers need to return to making classic movies.

Thornton says, "He (Ledger) never involved himself in Hollywood and he didn't want to be a celebrity. He wanted to be an actor. I love acting. I just don't like the current state of the movie business and what is released. The rest of the world makes movies that mean something some of the time. In America, we don't."

Ledger died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs at his New York home in January.
