William Baldwin and his actress/singer wife Chynna Phillips raised $58,000 for Barack Obama's presidential campaign, by hosting a fundraiser at their California home over the weekend.

The star threw together the party - at their new Santa Barbara pad - at the last minute, so Phillips could show off her new material, and help the Democrat at the same time.

He says, "We did it very spontaneously. We only had five days to plan it. 150 people came to my house. We invited 40 families and they all brought their kids and all wrote a check. Chynna did a set from her new album and we raised 58 grand for Obama."
