David Gilmour has paid tribute to his late former Pink Floyd bandmate Richard Wright, who lost a short battle with cancer on Monday at the age of 65. Pink Floyd split in 1995, but keyboardist Wright reunited with Gilmour in 2006 to tour Europe and North America in support of the guitarist's album On An Island.

In a post on his website on Monday, Gilmour wrote, "I'm so sorry to break the sad news that Richard has passed away after a battle with cancer. I really don't know what to say other than that he was such a lovely, gentle, genuine man and will be missed terribly by so many who loved him. And that's a lot of people."
