Guy Ritchie has banned his wife Madonna from driving sports cars - because she is "appalling" behind the wheel.

The director suspects the pop superstar will buy him a luxury motor for his 40th birthday later this month - and will want to take it for a spin herself.

But Ritchie insists that he will never let his wife take control of a high-powered vehicle - as she is a terror on the roads.

He says, "If she buys a fast car, she will not be a driver in it. No way will Madonna drive a fast car! She is an appalling driver."
