Matthew McConaughey's mother has spoken for the first time about how her husband died during intercourse.

The star's 78-year-old mother, Kay, reveals a string of personal details about her famous son in her new book, I Amaze Myself - including how the actor's father died during sex.

She writes: "On Monday mornings, he and I often said goodbye by making love. One day, all of a sudden, it just happened. I knew that something was wrong, because I didn't hear anything from him. Just nothing. But it was just the best way to go!"

Earlier this year, McConaughey revealed he envisioned his own death in much the same way: "I can't think of a better way to go. I hope my own death is way down the line, but when it happens, that's my preferred exit strategy. But let's not rush it."
