Gerard WayMy Chemical Romance star Gerard Way is planning a follow-up to his recent series of graphic novels.

The rocker, 31, published his first set of comics when he was just 16 and re-launched his career as an author last year by releasing The Umbrella Academy.

Way triumphed at comic publishing's top prize ceremony last month - the Eisner Awards - taking home the gong for Best Limited Series. And the singer admits that the success of the series - which follows the adventures of a family of superheroes - has inspired him to write a follow up, which he hopes to have in shops by November.

He tells British magazine NME, "It's a biggie; the Eisner is the Oscar of comics. It's actually nice to get, because it's hard to get. The next series deals with the fallout and aftermath of series one. It's definitely political; it deals with a subject in American history in which people might not see a sense of irony or black humor."
