The PoliceThe Police have raised more than $40,000 for New York public TV just one week after launching online auctions of the band's memorabilia.

The reunited rock trio began selling packages and keepsakes for charity on auction website eBay.com on Monday in a bid to boost funds for two public television stations in the Big Apple.

Last week, in a similar Internet auction, the band sold four sets of VIP tickets and backstage passes to their final concert on Thursday for $40,000.

The summer-long Public Television Rocks fund raising drive between the band and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) will culminate with Thursday's show at Madison Square Garden.

Contributing to the impressive earnings were a pair of front-row tickets to the show, which fetched $5,200.

California-based auction house Kompolt - who is organizing the event - has declined to comment on how much money is expected to be raised.

Other items up for sale include signed instruments, concert souvenirs, and packages to meet and greet the band, fronted by bass player Sting.

All proceeds from the auctions will benefit TV networks Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21.
