Hercules is set for a big return to the spotlight with Hancock moviemaker Peter Berg keen to remake the cult TV series as a blockbuster. Berg will produce and direct Hercules: The Thracian Wars for Universal Studios.
The project will be adapted from a five-issue comic book series, which debuted in May.
Casting details have yet to be announced; Kevin Sorbo played Hercules on TV.
The project isn't the only remake Berg is planning - the actor/director is also set to direct and produce a new film version of the Frank Herbert sci-fi classic Dune.
The classic book has already been adapted for the big screen; director David Lynch's 1984 film starred Sting and Kyle MacLachlan. It was also developed as a TV mini-series in 2000.
