Iron MaidenHeavy metal stars Iron Maiden have launched a soccer challenge to Norway's top rockers in a bid to bounce back from an 8-1 drubbing there three years ago. The British group and their crew will take to the field in Oslo prior to their concert in the city on July 24.

They'll take on members of local rock acts TNT, Dimmu Borgir and Grand Cafe, according to Blabbermouth.net.

And rocking golf fan Nicko McBrain, Maiden's drummer, will get a front row seat at the upcoming Ryder Cup-- Europe's captain, Nick Faldo, has asked him to keep morale high for players and play a part in the preparation for the battle against the Americans in Kentucky.

Faldo has refused to explain why he signed the rocker up to his backroom staff.
