Billy Joel turned the first of two fond farewell concerts at New York's Shea Stadium into a star-studded affair on Wednesday with a string of top guests.
Tony Bennett, John Mayer, John Mellencamp and Don Henley joined Joel for the first of his two Last Play at Shea concerts.
Joel will become the last artist to perform at the baseball stadium before it is demolished. The venue's musical legacy began in 1965 with the Beatles.
More than 60,000 showed up for the Joel concert. The rocker, who performed baseball anthem "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" as part of his hits set, will return on Friday night.
