It was time to choose the much-coveted top ten spots, and the competition was tough this week on "So You Think You Can Dance." Whoever is in the top ten of "So You Think You Can Dance" automatically get to go on tour with the group, and due to that and the television coverage the dancers will probably get plenty of jobs afterward.

Starting next week the show format is going to change drastically. The partners will be switched every week, and now it is entirely up to America's votes. The judges will not decide who goes home; the dancer with the least amount of votes will be out. So if you want to keep your favorite dancer, you better be on that phone!

Will and Jessica went through the usual song and dance of the judges sucking up to Will's perfection and rolling their eyes at Jessica. They performed an Adam and Eve contemporary routine, which was raw and pretty amazing, but did not do well on the quick step. Usually the quick step is considered the kiss of death, or so it is said, although last year several couples performed it and did just fine. They are in the bottom three because America probably hates the tongue bath Will gets every week from the judges.

Twitch and Kherington started out with krumping and were fantastic. Twitch was very aggressive, and Kherington was surprisingly fierce. They also performed a tango, which was less than impressive, and it landed them in the bottom three. Nigel basically assured them they were safe for the next round before the judging even begins, which seemed like an awfully cruel thing to do to the other two couples!

Joshua and Katee were just so charming as a pair, and they began with a Viennese waltz that seemed alright, but their Bollywood piece was what really gave them a ticket to the top ten. This was the first time Bollywood was performed on the show, and everyone seemed very excited about it. The dance was really beautiful, and they both committed to it. They were in the top ten.

Thayne and Comfort were already in trouble from last week, and they barely made it through. They did a hip-hop routine that was uninspired, and a contemporary piece without a connection between them. It is strange how obvious it can be if a pair of dancers do not go well together and how every routine feels boring while they're in it together when another pair can light it up. They were in the bottom three again.

The odd couple Mark and Chelsie really were great and sexy in their salsa and Broadway routines. Both were sultry and showed off Chelsea's enormously impressive leg work. Even someone with no dance experience can tell that she is very talented in ballroom. Mark was so strange and yet charismatic so it was easy to forgive his lack of technique. Mia Michaels warned him to work on it since personality will not be enough in weeks to come. They were safe this week so he can work on it.

Gev and Courtney were a cute pairing, but it will be interesting to see how they do with other partners in the upcoming weeks. They did a cha cha with PASHA AND ANYA! YAY! The problem with seeing those two choreograph them is that afterward, I wanted them to dance it instead. Sigh. They did great with the cha cha and then did a lovely jazz routine with a fantastic beat. Gev has this extraordinary way of keeping in beat with his whole body, so it really came out fabulous. These two were safe.

The Alvin Ailey Dance troupe performed and are alright, but not the best guests so far. Katy Perry was the guest singer and sounded terrible. She seemed to be relying entirely on her singing about kissing girls. Who is that chick? Anyway, Comfort and Thayne were certain to go home, and they did. Both seemed very cheerful and grateful for the chance. It will be interesting to see how Jessica does with a new partner and whether or not the judges will stop treating her like an Albatross.
