Former supermodel Christie Brinkley is planning to leave her New York home and start a new life in California after her divorce trial.

The star's high-drama divorce from Peter Cook, currently being played out in a Manhattan courtroom, has seen her estranged husband accused of adultery and of hiding a costly pornography habit.

Brinkley, 54, is now reportedly hoping to land full custody of the couple's two children, Jack, 13, and Sailor, 10, so she can sell the family home and move to the west coast, in a bid to vanquish all of the bad memories of her marriage.

Jill Rappaport, a close friend of the catwalk beauty, says, "She wants to begin again as a single mom and put all this behind her. We're all praying the judge agrees to her getting sole custody of the children. They've been deeply, deeply scarred by all this too."
