R&B singer Janet Jackson is planning to start a family with longtime love Jermaine Dupri, the music producer has confirmed.

The 42-year-old Nasty singer admitted earlier this year she's desperate for children, but isn't convinced she is mature enough to raise a child.

But her longtime boyfriend, producer Dupri disagrees, insisting the pair are both ready to entertain ideas of a new addition as soon as Jackson returns from her upcoming U.S. tour.

He tells People magazine of the couple's baby plans: "Yeah, soon. Right after the tour."

And Dupri - already father to daughter Shaniah from a previous relationship - is so anxious to expand his brood, he admits he's not concerned whether the couple's new addition is a boy or a girl: "It really doesn't matter. Janet would be a great mom. She was around so many brothers and sisters all her life, so she's got to know what that is (like). And her mom is a great mother."

Jackson is set to hit the road for her Rock Witchu North American tour - the first tour for the singer in seven years - this September.
