Mariah CareyAnd the winner is...Many actors and singers dream of having their names called as the winner of an Oscar, Grammy or Emmy. Award shows can be unpredictable. Just when you think you know who the winner is, you're surprised and shocked when another actor or singer wins.

Awards shows wouldn't be as exciting if were no surprises.

Here's a look back at some of the most talented Grammy award winners who walked away with the coveted prize:

Grammy Winners
From Carrie Underwood to Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys, many of today's hottest and most talented singers have won countless Grammy awards.

When thinking of powerhouse singers, four female songstresses come to mind: Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.

Celine DionFive-time Grammy winner Celine Dion first walked away with an award in 1992 for Best Pop Performance By A Duo or Group With Vocal for "Beauty And The Beast." She won two in 1996 for "Falling Into You': Best Pop Album and Album of the Year. In 1998 she won two for "My Heart Will Go On": Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Record of the Year. Dion has a career many artists inspire to have: millions of Albums sold, devoted fans and respect from her peers.

Say what you want about Christina Aguilera's wardrobe choices, you can't deny the vocal abilities that this powerhouse has. When Aguilera took home her first Grammy for Best New Artist in 1999 her face was priceless, and she was completely shocked. She herself didn't think she was going to win. She went on to win four more Grammys, Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals- "Lady Marmalade" (With Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink) in 2001; Best Female Pop Vocal Performance- "Beautiful" in 2003 and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance- "Ain't No Other Man" in 2006.

Christina AguileraMariah Carey holds the record for the most number-one songs on the Billboard Hot 100 by a female artist: 18. Carey is no stranger to awards shows either. Mariah Carey, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood and Amy Winehouse have one thing in common: They all won in a Best New Artist Grammy. Carey won hers in 1990; that same night she won Best Pop Female Vocal Performance- "Vision Of Love." She won three more Grammy in 2005, Best Contemporary R&B Album- "The Emancipation Of Mimi," Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for "We Belong Together."

Many singers on American Idol try to take on a Whitney classic but pale in comparison to the diva herself. If she plays her cards right, Whitney Houston could potentially have one of the biggest comebacks in music history. In 1985 Whitney won her first Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female- "Saving All My Love For You." She went on to win five more Grammys, Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female- "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" in 1987; Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female- "I Will Always Love You," Album of the Year- "The Bodyguard Soundtrack," Record of the Year- "I Will Always Love You" in 1993 and in 1999 walked away with the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. If her rumored comeback is as great as everyone is anticipating, expect Whitney to walk away with several more Grammys in the near future.
Whitney Houston
With more than 70 hit singles, 15 charted albums and more than 130 million albums sold in the U.S. alone, the following artist has enjoyed having one of the most successful careers in the music industry. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that he was the best-selling solo artist of the 20th century in America, that is until they changed their methods of counting certifications and named Elvis Presley the best-selling solo artist in the U.S. Can you guess the artist?

Over the years, Garth Brooks has won 10 Academy of Country Music Awards, including Artist of the Year in 1998, two Grammys, 17 American Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, five World Music Awards, 12 People's Choice Awards and 36 Billboard Music Awards. It's safe to say that artists dream about having a career as successful as Garth's.

Garth BrooksThink back to 1985, this future Grammy winner made her first television appearance during the first season of "The Cosby Show" as a little girl named Maria who was at Rudy's slumber party. As of 2007, Alicia Keys has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide. She's won countless awards including 11 Grammys, 17 Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards and 14 NAACP Image Awards. She broke records in 2002 when she won a record of five Grammy Awards in a single night. She is now "tied" with Norah Jones, who walked away with five Grammys the following year.
