Celebrities Raise $50 Million For Kids Charity

Elizabeth HurleyBritish stars Elizabeth Hurley, Trudie Styler and Bob Geldof helped raise $50 million for a children's charity at a lavish dinner in London on Thursday. The annual Absolute Return for Kids (ARK) dinner at the Royal Navel College in London was organised by Uma Thurman's businessman partner Arpad Busson in a bid to raise funds for the charity.

The event attracted a host of well-known celebrities, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie, who were serenaded by legendary singer Stevie Wonder.

Guests paid between $2,000 and $20,000-a-head to be seated at the charity dinner.

British artist Damien Hirst auctioned off a painting at the event, which was sold for $18,000, with a speaking role in Thurman's upcoming movie Eloise going under the hammer for $960,000, according to Britain's the Daily Express.
