'One Tree Hill' Season Five Finale Leaves Fans In Suspense

One Tree HillIf the mind lets go, can the heart officially follow in suit? Can a person be involved in an internal enigma, a human mind puzzle that cannot seem to fit back together? In Monday night's season finale of "One Tree Hill," each of the characters found themselves toeing the line between necessity and desire. People are forced to make decisions on a daily basis, and some are life altering. But when a situation becomes emotional, can you officially detach yourself to finally let go?

Brooke and baby Angie may not have connected as fast as Brooke would have liked, but they eventually grew to understand one another. On the surface, it seemed that Brooke only wanted a baby in order to ease her own losses of love. Somewhere along the way, though, the fashion designer learned to set aside her own wants and desires in order to help someone in need. Unfortunately, it was sad to watch baby Angie leave to go back home. On a side note, I do admit that I enjoyed watching Lucas and Brooke become closer friends this season. It's good they both have each other to rely on in a platonic manner.

Is risking someone else's reputation worth receiving the benefits that follow? Mouth's progress at the local news station hit a slump after he deliberately deleted vital footage of Lucas' erratic coaching behavior at a Raven's basketball game. After hearing word that he had been replaced by an older, more experienced broadcaster, Mouth pondered the implications of his decision. Would he really have to compromise his beliefs in order to achieve his dream? Fortunately, his knowledge of North Carolina teams paid off when he saved the day during a studio malfunction while on-air. With his confidence restored, Mouth gave an encore by announcing his departure.

One Tree HillNathan Scott continued to train alongside Quentin in hopes of regaining what he lost after his accident. After a courtside argument with Quentin, Nathan's frustrations flared. Understanding his father's struggle, little Jamie spoke about his own fears. Since his near drowning incident, his apprehension of getting back in the water seemed evident. Together as father and son, the two overcame their biggest hurdles. In a surprise twist, Nathan took to the court and transformed into the once NBA-bound star, while Jamie leaped into the pool without looking back.

With Lucas, I'm about ready to freak out. Raise your hand if many of you are too. This love/hate merry-go-round he's continuing to take us is getting way out of control. It's time he realizes Lindsey has turned him down for the 100th time. What does this mean? Time to move on! She has and so should Lucas. All this getting drunk business and attacking basketball players is only making things worse. And what's the point of heading to Sin City? What could you possibly figure out there except detailed and elaborate ways to lose your money?

My Final Thoughts: It's about time Lucas realizes who he really loves. (Do I sound like a broken record? I think so). In all truthfulness, Lindsey's rejection meant strike two for Lucas' wedding dreams. Maybe it's not Lindsey he's mad at but his bad luck in the marital world. Personally, I still think he's still in love with Peyton. Haley was right. Sometimes people write down feelings they cannot talk about. Even though telling Peyton he hated her and that she was the source of all of his love problems was THE meanest thing he's ever done, it doesn't negate his written words. And if I'm wrong? Well, then for goodness sakes, if he doesn't' like either of them the way he used to, who said it's a bad thing to be single? Try it because it just may work for you, Lucas. If Peyton is not the one he chooses to spend the summer with, then it's time for her to move on. (Who do you think Lucas picked? Is it for real this time?)

How many of you thought Dan Scott was going to kill the Reverend? He sure made it believable. With an evil heart like his, no wonder he needs a transplant. Yet, in a surprise turn of events, Dan seemed to exhibit some semblance of a soul. After realizing the available heart was his when the Reverend eventually passed, Dan even became a new person, helping an old man pick up his cane. Of course, getting hit by a car and left unconscious in the street makes us wonder if Dan will make an appearance in season six. If anyone has been counting, how many times have we been left at a season finale with Dan on the brink of impending death? Do producers really want Dan off the air or are they just toying with our emotions?

I curse the producers for leaving us on the edge of our seats for the next few months! The silver lining in all of this: At least we get another season of our favorite show. Until next season, what did you think of Monday night's finale? Make a comment!
