'Supernatural' Season Finale: No Rest For The Wicked

On last night's season three finale of Supernatural, Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver) hunted down Lilith to fight her and her demons in one final attempt to save Dean's life.
Against Dean's wishes, Sam summoned Ruby (Katie Cassidy) to get her help and her powerful knife. Dean wanted to go after Lilith their way, the way their dad taught them.
The clock was ticking, and Dean only had 30 hours left before the hounds come to take him to hell. They were really cutting it close, but would they save him in time?
First things first. You have no idea how happy I was to see Ruby again. Her sarcasm really made the episode. Turns out Ruby can save Dean. She told Sam that he never lied to him, not once. Sammy didn't realize that he had the power to take out Lilith, which explains why Lilith wanted Sam dead. She was terrified of him.
There's one thing the demons had that they use against the brothers: they're each other's weak spots. The demons knew what these brothers would do for each other and the lengths they'd go to do it. Dean making the deal is a prime example.
When the brothers finally tracked down Lilith, who is in Indiana on a shore leave, they realized she was just a little girl. Turns out Lilith knew the boys were coming and left Lilith's body and got rid of Ruby and used her to get to the brothers. When using the bright light to kill Sam, she was unsuccessful. I guess Sam really is more powerful then he thought. He had a chance to kill her, and he didn't. I don't understand why.
The best moment of the episode came when the brothers went back to their 80's rock roots and sang Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive," which really fit the moment. One thing is for sure, we won't be seeing the Winchester brothers auditioning for American Idol anytime soon, but it was a great moment for the brothers.
The quote of the night goes to Bobby. Dean was realizing that he can see the demons and was able to tell who was human and who wasn't. Bobby summed it up in one of the best quotes: "You're almost hell's bitch, so you can see hell's other bitches."
Last week I mentioned that the season finale looked to be a real tearjerker. I was right. The sentimental speech Dean gave to Sam at the end got me a little choked up. Sam didn't know what to do without his brother. Dean just told him to keep hunting and to take care of his wheels. Maybe this means we'll actually get to see Sam driving the car.
The season ended with what appears to be Dean in hell, but it doesn't look like he was really in hell. It seemed like some halfway place since he wasn't torn to shreds and there weren't anyone else there with him. He was just hanging on a bunch of wires screaming for Sam's help. Keep your fingers crossed that he doesn't come back a demon.
While few questions were answered, the season finale left us with a bunch of unanswered questions. What exactly happened to Dean? What the hell happened to Ruby? Is she dead? Where's Bobby? It just seems like he vanished into thin air or something. Why was Dean getting visions of Sammy? I guess we'll have to wait for the answers this September/October when the fourth season returns to the CW.
