'Dancing With The Stars' Semifinals: Will Kristi Go All The Way?

May 13th, 2008 9:08am EDT
Kristi YamaguchiMario and his perpetually glaring partner Karina are history, which leave only four couples on "Dancing With The Stars." Somehow Cristian's injury has made him a better dancer, and now the winner is anyone's guess. Tonight is the final elimination before the finale so last night's dance might have been the most important night of the competition. The dances were chosen by chance, so a little extra drama will come into play.

Jason and Edyta
Jason bombed last week so he really needed to step up to make it to next week. They did the fox trot and the paso doble this week, the first of which he did way back at the beginning. Edyta had a chalkboard to discuss strategy and told Jason to treat everyone as an enemy. A message from Dan Marino told Jason that if he doesn't bring back the mirror ball, he can't go home.

Dance 1- The Fox Trot
A very classic looking dance, not a lot of fancy footwork or moves, a very straightforward attempt to get themselves back in the judge's favor. They were not really risking anything with their tricks, which may not be enough to bring them perfect tens. Len said he was fantastic, Bruno said he's a lucky man to have Edyta driving him, and Carrie Ann said it was beautiful.

Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 10
Bruno: 9
Total: 28

Dance 2- Paso Doble
They were a little wobbly in the beginning and Jason missed Edyta's hand, but after that they were near flawless. Jason had the passion in his eyes that made the dance so intense to watch. There looked to be a life while Edyta was spinning, but it could have been a bad camera angle. Bruno called him Iron Man, Carrie Ann said great job, and Len said he's going up.

Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

Marissa and Tony
The dark horse in this competition was on the bottom of the leader board last week but has plenty of fans out there. Stacy Keibler dropped by to tell Tony that he wasn't sexy, which I'm sure made him feel like a million bucks. One thing I'll be so happy with after all this is over will be a Monday night without so much filler.

Dance 1- Quick Step
Marissa may not be a lot of things, but she is a charmer. Her quick step was nothing to write home about and was seriously starting to look like every dance she does. The basic moves involved going across the floor pausing, moving to a different spot and pausing again. The audience loved her, and so do you. Bruno told her she isn't doing semifinal dancing, Carrie Ann said it was a great job, and Len agreed with Carrie Ann.

Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 8
Total: 26

Dance 2- Rumba
Very slow and somewhat similar to the way they dance at the end of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. Again a lot of the same, but Marissa stuck with what she does well. I think she's just happy to make it this far. A very sexy dance to go out on if they go home tonight. Carrie Ann wasn't excited, Len said she did a good job, and Bruno liked it and had to talk over Carrie Ann being annoying and talking over everyone.

Carrie Ann: 8
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 26

Cristian and Cheryl
After last week it seems like Cristian can do no wrong. He picked the waltz and samba, the latter of which caused his injury. The duo hit the town to solicit votes and proceeded to dance with their fans. Cheryl mentioned that she was in the finals before, and she is eager to return.

Dance 1- Waltz
Cheryl was in the craziest looking silver dress that looks a bit like a practical joke gone wrong. They had chemistry during the dance, and Cheryl was good about choreography that only uses one arm, but the schtick is growing a bit stale. Carrie Ann loved it, Len said it was better than last week, and Bruno said it had a wow factor.

Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 9
Total: 27

Dance 2- The Samba
They managed to have a lot of fun with the dance and used Cristian's arms to the best of their ability. The ended it with some butt shaking action that should get some votes. Len said it was hotter than a chili pepper, Bruno said it was exciting and fun, and Carrie Ann said they brought so much energy to the floor.

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 29

Kristi and Mark
They got the tango and jive this week, so they had to somehow outdo the perfect score they received in the past. Kristi had to work emotion into the tango this week to break through the barrier of 9's she received in the past. The couple headed to a dance class to have professional dancers critique their moves. Let's hope she listens.

Dance 1 The Tango
This dance was really Kristi's weak point. She smiled a bit too much for a passionate tango and was focusing so much on technical moves that she left out the emotion again. Len said it was hectic, Bruno was unintelligible and Carrie Ann jumped out of her seat.

Carrie Ann: 10
Len: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 29

Dance 2- Jive
The two of them were filled with confidence as they pulled out every move in their arsenal to get themselves a perfect score. Kristi was at home in this dance, mixing her footwork with a bubbly personality in a routine that had more moves in it than the other dances combined. Bruno said was the icing on the cake, Carrie Ann Said she was a hair out of sync, and Len said she was a bit stiff.

Carrie Ann: 9
Len: 9
Bruno: 10
Total: 28

Kristi is a shoe in for next week and Marissa is on her way out. I think I'm tossing my support fully behind Kristi to win the competition, as long as they stick with the crazy fast dances.
