Actress Jennie Garth has confirmed she will return in the new spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210 after months of speculation.

The star fueled rumors she had agreed to star in the new show after she abruptly quit TV series "My Best Friend's Girl" last month.

Garth was slated to star in the pilot for the comedy, but walked away from the project at the last minute, prompting producers to replace her with Kristin Booth.

She is the first original character to be signed to appear in the remake - although many former stars including Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering have both spoken out about their ambitions to star in the new venture.

Garth will make special guest appearances on the show as her former character Kelly Taylor and will play a guidance counsellor.
