Teamwork Shines On 'One Tree Hill'
What does the saying "There is no 'I' in 'Team'" mean to each and every person? When you become part of a team, are you a member of that team forever? Does one lose their individuality and become part of the group? Monday night's episode of "One Tree Hill" featured several characters rising up to the challenge of ultimate teamwork. Despite the odds, the hardships and the pain, they set aside their own personal needs and worked together. At what point can a team change back into "I"?
Brooke Davis has proven herself as not only a wonderful person and friend but a mother as well. After finally reaching happiness within herself and being there for close friends, she has found her niche as a caring, loving mother. Her emotional connection to her adopted baby is extremely endearing and heartfelt. Her determination to give her the best life possible is touching, especially with the help of long-time friend Lucas Scott.
Of course, when it comes down to it, how many of us were excited to witness some totally inspiring Brucas moments? As a fan myself, I must admit I do hope this doesn't transform into a Lucas/Brooke love affair. There is only so much fans can endure of the Peyton/Lucas/Brooke love triangle that refuses to die. If anything, by continuing to throw Lucas' true feelings around, his character's authenticity continues to become increasingly hazy.

Millicent continues to nurture a budding relationship with her boyfriend Mouth. With unique career goals and different pasts, Mouth and Millicent have learned to overcome each other's fears and struggles and merely lean on each other for support. Millicent learned how to co-exist within an apartment of three adventurous guys simply by attending to their interests. (Who doesn't like a water gun fight every now and then?) Despite being incredibly busy at work, she still found time to build up Mouth's confidence during Mouth's milestone sports broadcasting debut.
With a game-changing injury, Q chose to remove himself from the Ravens basketball team. Without the use of his hand, his talent and his passion, he was confident that his membership on the team no longer counted for anything. The guidance and encouragement by his coaches and a special little five-year-old finally opened his eyes to the true meaning of teamwork. Despite still wearing a cast, Q rejoined the team, determined to help out his teammates take it to the top. Q eventually seemed to realize that when one way doesn't work out, try another. Given all the odds, one simply can't give up so easily.
Somewhere along the way, teams broke and the loyalties that once were present became extinct. Dan Scott murdered his own brother in cold blood and in return destroyed a future with his two sons. His former wife, Deb, and ex-wife, Karen, have each made brief appearances on the show so far. Karen, who's been away in Paris with her boyfriend and Lily, has yet to hold a significant role this season. Though Deb made her appearance at Jamie's birthday party, she made it clear to Dan that his presence was unwanted.
Despite Dan pouring his heart out to his son, Nathan stood loyal to his family. With Dan's days limited, Nathan cut the last tie holding Dan to the Scott family. Nathan's last words to his father may very well be "Leave my family alone."
Next week's episode clips reveal nothing useful for us avid fans. Could Lucas and Peyton making out on his bed just be an elaborately created mind-game? Or maybe it's one of Peyton's dreams. But since many of us are surely crossing our fingers, we have to wonder: Has Lucas finally unlocked his heart?
