Cher Defends Comeback
Superstar Cher has defended her decision to shock fans with a comeback show in Las Vegas, three years after her farewell tour - insisting she only said she would quit touring.
Some fans who paid out for tickets for her final roadshow in 2005 were upset when the 61-year-old singer announced a three-year residency at Las Vegas' Caesar's Palace Hotel and Casino.
But Cher - who kicked off the 200 show run on Tuesday - insists she never lied.
Speaking on an Oprah Winfrey Show special, filmed in the Nevada city, and aired on Thursday, she said, "What I said was, I was never going to go on tour again, because I'm 100 now and I can't do it. I didn't want to give up. I like doing this too much."
But Cher confesses, just two days into her Las Vegas stint, she's already suffering stagefright. She says, "I get terrified. Backstage, I'm like, 'Oh, oh, I can't do this.'"
