Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon has frank discussions with her children about her drug-taking youth in a bid to stop them following in her footsteps. The 61-year-old has two sons, Jack, 19, and Miles, 16, with long-term partner, fellow actor Tim Robbins, and is determined to be honest with them whenever they ask about her wild youth.

Sarandon admits she took plenty of drugs during her time in 1970s Hollywood, and isn't afraid to share her experiences with the teenagers. She says, "When they were pretty young, Miles said, 'Did you do crack?' and I had to explain, 'No, they didn't have crack in those days.' I never really took hard drugs - I was more a hallucinogens and weed type of girl. I've had very honest and upfront talks with my kids about sex and drugs."

"I've told them that all drugs are not the same and that some can kill you the first time you take them and that since they're illegal, you don't always know what you're getting."
