House star Hugh Laurie blames the hit TV show for destroying his memory. The British actor loved to read in his spare time before he landed the role of the grouchy doctor in the Fox drama - but the piles of scripts he is forced to read and remember have left him unable to commit anything else to memory.

He says, "It turns out I can't read any more. I can physically read, but I have no memory. Because of television I have to absorb a lot of stuff for a very short period of time. I've decided to pick one novel and read it over and over again for the rest of my life. I'm thinking Grapes of Wrath."
