Jack Johnson Named Earth Day's Top Green Rocker
In an online Music Goes Green special, Johnson has beaten Willie Nelson and Mexican band Mana to the title of greenest musician.
Billboard bosses cite the mellow singer/songwriter's efforts to be as environmentally-conscious as possible in his recording and touring ventures.
They note that the Los Angeles headquarters of Johnson's Brushfire Records is "a cozy single-family home", which features a recording studio insulated with used denim and "powered in part by solar panels located on the roof." Johnson also works tirelessly for non-profit charity the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, which supports environmental education in his native Hawaii.
The top five green stars on the new Billboard list are:
1. Jack Johnson
2. Willie Nelson
3. Mana
4. Dave Matthews Band
5. K.T. Tunstall
