Britney SpearsPop star-turned-sitcom secretary Britney Spears has been offered a job working as a real receptionist for animal rights group People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA).

Inspired by Spears' recent performance as a secretary on How I Met Your Mother, PETA president Ingrid E. Newkirk has made the Toxic singer a written job offer.

PETA bosses, who insist their offer isn't an early April Fool's Day joke, are targetting Spears because she has previously worn fur and bought animals from pet stores.

Newkirk writes, "After seeing your excellent performance on How I Met Your Mother, PETA would like to offer you a real job as a receptionist. It could be for as little as an hour, and you would see - from the inside - why we are so concerned about issues like fur and homeless dogs and cats. As a 'thank you' for your willingness to learn and help, we would donate $1,000 to a children's charity."
