Brad Pitt can trace his family tree back to Barack Obama and Angelina Jolie can follow hers to Hillary Clinton, according to a sensational new study.

Obama is a distant cousin of Pitt's, while his Democrat political opponent Clinton is related to the movie hunk's girlfriend, according to researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society. The study also unearthed familial links between Clinton, who is of French-Canadian descent, Madonna, Camilla Parker-Bowles, Celine Dion and Alanis Morissette.

Genealogist Christopher Child says, "This shows that lots of different people can be related, people you wouldn't necessarily expect."

Child has spent the last three years tracing the candidates' genealogy and discovered Pitt and Obama are ninth cousins, as are Clinton and Jolie, twice removed.
