Celebrity romances are either fabricated stories for the press, a way to sell magazines, or denied by the couple's publicists until the time is right, which is usually when there is a visible ring on a starlet's finger or a baby bump. That is unless you're Tom Cruise and you want to profess your undying love by jumping on a couch on the Oprah Winfrey show!

In the case of Kate Hudson, 28, and Owen Wilson, 39, recent sightings together have raised eyebrows for the one time admitted couple. Could they be hooking up once again? Is this just a publicity stunt? Does Kate feel bad that she put Owen through such turmoil and he almost ended his life? Or are they just dying to make it on the cover of Us Weekly? We may never know the true answer; celebrities are quite hush hush on their hookups.

Kate and Owen became an item in 2006 after they starred together in You, Me & Dupree. They didn't play a couple onscreen but off screen their chemistry was evident. The movie wasn't a blockbuster hit but it did spark a romance for the two. The same year Kate's six year marriage to Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes coincidently ended. The two have a son, Ryder, together and seem to remain friends and get along for the sake of their child. After Kate and Chris' marriage ended, she and Owen were seen together, always smiling, and seemingly enjoying a good relationship. They made a cute couple, the goofy blonde duo.

Kate seemed to be crazy for Owen but he ended their relationship in June 2007 because he liked partying more than he liked her (Us Magazine Online 2/28/08). Yet friends said he had soon regretted the decision when she began dating Dax Shepard. Kate likes the unattractive, odd looking type of guy doesn't she?

In August, Owen attempted suicide by overdosing on pills and allegedly slitting his left wrist. It was never clear why he tried to take his life but there were rumors that he was depressed. He could have been on drugs that screwed with his mind and made him depressed or he could have been missing his former flame. When the news of the incident became public, Kate fled the set of her film in tears (www.dailymail.com.uk 8/29/07). Was she upset because her ex just attempted to end his life or did she feel guilty that he did it because she moved on? Since Owen's suicide mishap, the two have not been mentioned together until just recently. Their relationship never seemed solid, adultery and suicide doesn't add up to love. But there must have been something strong that forced them back into the arms of one another. Perhaps great sex? Or maybe it really is love. Though love is hard to find and keep, especially in Hollywood, it is possible. Kate's mother Goldie Hawn has been with Kurt Russell for almost thirty years.

The first sighting of the former flames together was during Oscar weekend at Madonna's party where they were reportedly seen having fun together and touching each other in a playful manner (People Magazine Online 2/28/08). Last month Owen was seen leaving Kate's home in Pacific Palisades, CA and she was seen leaving his Malibu estate (Page Six Online 3/4/08). More recently, they were both spotted in Miami, Kate for a film festival and Owen to film his upcoming movie, Marley & Me (People Magazine Online 3/5/08). They reportedly were bunking in side by side hotels (A Socialite's Life 3/3/08). It could have been a coincidence that they were in the same city at the same time, in side by side hotels. But the hook up meter points to "No."

Us Weekly reports they have rekindled their relationship and have been hanging out and hooking up. Will the relationship last or will the mere rumors fade away and be forgotten like former couple Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz. Remember them?

Kate has referred to Owen as "such a lovely person." (Page Six Online 3/4/08) That sounds like a statement to get the media off her butt; it's safe and doesn't give away too much. And Owen's response to Kate? No comment from his camp.
