Vampire Weekend Drummer Recuperates From Car Accident
Thompson was involved in a collision with a vehicle outside the Hoxton Hotel in London following last Thursday's NME Awards, and taken to the Royal London Hospital.
And now the percussionist is recovering with the aid of takeout food and some words of wisdom from Petty's 1996 song "Walls."
Thompson writes on the band's MySpace.com webpage: "I would sincerely like to thank everyone who lent me their support and good vibes. I feel incredibly lucky to have sustained only minor injuries, and would also like to thank the Royal London Hospital (Dr. Lewinsohn!) for taking care of me. I'm currently recuperating with a steady diet of Nando's chicken and Tom Petty, who, appropriately, pointed out that even walls fall down."
