'Vantage Point' Claims Number-One Spot


Vantage PointAssassination thriller Vantage Point is this year's Oscar weekend top film at the box office after making $24 million in its opening week.

The star-studded film, featuring Dennis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver and Forest Whitaker, toppled sci-fi movie Jumper, which grossed $12.6 million in its second week on release.

Family film The Spiderwick Chronicles dropped from two to three and Step Up 2 the Streets and Fool's Gold round out the new top five.

Jack Black comedy Be Kind Rewind was the only other top 10 debut, grossing $4.1 million in its opening weekend to come in seventh.
