Comedian Jim Carrey and his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy have denied a report claiming they're expecting their first child together. McCarthy's TV presenter friend Chelsey Handler made an impromptu announcement during her talk show on Tuesday.

The broadcaster told her audience: "And by the way, Jim, Jenny wanted me to tell you - she's pregnant."

But Carrey and McCarthy insist their friend got it wrong. A spokesperson for McCarthy says, "She is not pregnant."

Carrey has a 20-year-old daughter named Jane from his first marriage to actress Melissa Womer, while McCarthy has an autistic five-year-old son, Evan, with her ex-husband director John Asher.
