'Cloverfield' Scares Away Global Box Office Competitors


CloverfieldMonster movie Cloverfield is the world's number one film for a second successive week. The horror thriller, about five New Yorkers attempting to escape from a giant lizard, proved to be the most popular film outside the U.S. over the weekend with takings of $14.3 million.

Nicolas Cage sequel National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is at two with $10.1 million, while rounding out the top three is I Am Legend with $9 million.
