Velvet RevolverRock group Velvet Revolver has been forced to cancel a series of shows in Australia after frontman Scott Weiland checked into rehab.

The shows scheduled for February 15th to 20th were due to go ahead, according to gig promoter Chris O'Brien, despite Weiland beginning a spell in a facility in San Diego last week. However in an official statement from Australian promoters KMW Productions, the company admits the concerts have now been pulled.

It reads, "Velvet Revolver regret to announce they're unable to perform their five upcoming concert dates in Australia that were scheduled for February 15-20. The cancellation of these shows will allow lead singer Scott Weiland to continue treatment at a rehab facility which he voluntarily entered after the band's February 6th performance in Los Angeles. Velvet Revolver deeply apologize to their fans in Australia and thank them for sticking by the group when various members have relapsed during the last year and a half."

Velvet Revolver's gig at the House of Blues in San Diego last Thursday was also scrapped as a result of Weiland's rehab. However, the band's performances at the Dubai Desert Rock Fest on March 8th, and their U.K. tour later that month, are still scheduled to go ahead.
