After what seemed like a really long absence, "Supernatural
" is back with the first of the last four new episodes of the season.
An affair goes bad when the other woman seeks revenge on a man's wife through witchcraft. At first the practices of a group of neighborhood witches seem harmless, but Sam (Jared Padalecki
) & Dean (Jensen Ackles
) learn that these coven of witches are using black magic that's being drawn from a much more sinister source.
Could it be? Could Ruby's (Katie Cassidy
) intentions be real? There was a lot of new information in this episode: Where do demons come from? Can Dean really be saved? What are Ruby's intentions? Then Ruby and Dean finally meet face to face. I have to admit the smack talk between Dean and Ruby was pretty priceless.
Ruby tells Sam and Dean to leave because the demon knows that Sam is in town, and there is no way he can fight the demon. This demo turns out to be one of the coven witches, Tammi (Marisa Ramirez
) who tells the brothers that Ruby herself was once a witch back when she was human.
All demons were once human before they went to hell, but they have forgotten what it's like to be human. This got Dean a little worried; will he remember what it's like? Ruby informs Dean that hell will eventually burn all his humanity and make him forget what his life was like when he was human. And what about Dean's deal? Unfortunately, Ruby was lying to Sam. How else could she get Sam to talk to a demon? This is making me wonder how the writers will save Dean. That is if they even plan on saving him.
There is a new leader rising to lead all the demons that have escaped from hell and turning them into a powerful army to fight this on-going war. Ruby is trying to trail Sam - maybe to be the leader of another army or to prepare Sam for when Dean is gone. Sam did say that's why he's acting more like Dean with not hesitating to kill demons. We'll just have to wait and see. Due to the writers' strike, we're most likely going to have to wait until next season.
