Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street has carved out a place at the top of the international box office chart, toppling I Am Legend to become the world's number one film.

The macabre musical, which stars Johnny Depp as a murderous barber, proved the most popular movie outside the U.S. over the weekend, taking $18.7 million.

Will Smith's I Am Legend falls a place to two with $15.8 million, while National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is at three with $13 million.
