For New Orleans native Tut~Burks the sound of his alto-saxophone is a melodic voice of confidence from the Dixie landscape that pushes up out of the lungs of the talented musician.
Leaving New Orleans months before Hurricane Katrina to pursue a music career in New York City could be seen as a sign of fate, but it could just be luck. What's certain is that musically he's right on time.
Under the imprint of his Mohy Soundz label, Tut sets himself as a polished musician who has honed much of his skill from the lessons taught by jazz specialist Edward Jordan, Alvin Batiste and Wynton Marsalis during the summer months at band camp when his high school alma mater St. Augustine was closed.

After high school he attended a heralded band program from Southern University of New Orleans where he would spend much time going to class and playing the club circuit throughout New Orleans. That experience helped him find his voice and prepare the world for his first album called "Brilliant Soul." The album is a trinsic blend of clever and groovy jazz tones with a hint of style. It's nothing short of brilliant because it definitely lives up to its name and is worth checking out.
Brilliant soul can be found on Cdbaby and Amazon.
