Annette Bening is to be honored with the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Board of Governors Award at a gala on 26 January. The honor is bestowed on individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the global art of film making.

Previous recipients include Bening's husband Warren Beatty, Gregory Peck, Jodie Foster and moguls Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola.
