In the second episode of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," Sarah (in a voice over) talks about how tough things are for her and John while we witness a roadside worker picking up litter. But there's more than the run-of-the-mill Hollywood trash there. In between all the syringes and beer bottles is a genuine Terminator head. Did it come through the time machine? Maybe. Either way, I'd put the chances of 2007 being Terminator free at low to nil.
In the family hideaway, John messes with a gear or something while Sarah bitches about feeling a little bit off. John calls it time lag, pure genius. Order of the business today is to track down some new IDs since they'll need those when they need to get into bars or buy lottery tickets and stuff. Sarah has a friend named Enrique who used to deal in fake info, but Cameron has a better idea. She has some future friends in town. Resistance fighters in fact. Cameron and Sarah head out to get the IDs while John holds down the fort and promises to stay inside.
Cameron and Sarah go to the apartment where the resistance fighters are. Small problem though: they're all dusted. Someone got there first, and how much are you willing to bet that someone would set off a metal detector if they went through in their birthday suit? Cameron examines the bodies, because that's her thing, and each one should have a bar code because they were all prisoners in the future. The last one doesn't have a bar code, and we're off!

Two episodes, two terminator fights! But this one isn't much of a rumble as the new Terminator scans Cameron as being a cyborg of unknown type and decides to take off. Cameron sets off in pursuit, and once Sarah manages to steal a motorcycle she's off as well. The foot race is pretty even until Sarah takes out the new Terminator's legs with the murdercycle. It looks like they might catch him until Cameron gets creamed by a car and completely freaks out it's occupants before she peels herself off the windshield.
On their way back, Sarah is in a foul mood about the presence of another Terminator in 2007. Cameron said they would be safe, and she says they should be. None of the present Terminators know John is alive because he died two years ago in 2005. Sarah, you shouldn't pry unless you can handle the answers.
When Sarah and Cameron get back home, John finishes patching up Cameron lovingly and tenderly and plan B is discussed, which involves Sarah's old para-military buddy Enrique. On the way over, Sarah asks too many questions again and finds out she dies from cancer before John dies. What a bummer, Sarah. See what happens when you ask too many questions? They meet up with Enrique, who is out of the business now, but he tells them to go see his degenerate nephew who took over the family business.
Meanwhile, John being the precocious youth he is, can't stand being in the house any longer so he heads out...to the mall. Big surprise. Being from 1997, all of the computer stuff in the mall automatically attracts John like the big nerd that he is. He quickly gets on the net and googles himself first to check out the aftermath of their great escape eight years ago. Not satisfied with that type of meddling, he next does a search for his almost-stepdad, Charley Dixon, who turned out to be a hero EMT and is married.
Cut to the roadside worker's house, where he brought home his prize: the Terminator head. His cat doesn't like the looks of it though, and the Terminator's eyes glow ominously. But where is the rest of it? Did the entire Terminator from 1997 make it through, or is this a new one? Guess we'll see.
Back in the barrio, Cameron faces off against some gang tough girl while Sarah conducts business. Seems the gang's pit bulls don't like the smell of Terminator. Sarah negotiates a price of $20,000 for the three fake identities before getting a quick tutorial on 9/11, which sadly, knowing what she knows, doesn't impress her too much. But she does acknowledge that it could probably have been mistaken for the opening salvos of her much-awaited war. Before Sarah and Cameron head out, Cameron finds the time to be harassed by a local cop, but the twosome make it out of there before the cops gets himself killed. Lucky cop.
Still on his own and running around, John then proceeds to commit some good-old breaking and entering into what turns out to be Charley's place. John slinks around before being attracted to some engine or something and is caught playing with it when Charley comes home. Charley is understandably somewhat thrown by seeing John in the flesh and advances on him steadily. Aside from terse words from both, this is not a happy reunion. Charley gets too close despite the protests of John, and John is forced to kick the crap out of Charley. John hits him hard and takes off for home because he forgot to take out the trash and needs to have his milk before he goes to bed.
