Ever cringe whenever a television character keeps on saying the same remark over and over again? A lot of fans can't help but associate certain TV characters based on their most popular catch phrase, and this isn't always a good thing.
From "Have mercy!" to "How you doin'?" we can't help but remember certain catch phrases because these characters have used them over and over… and over again.
A good chunk of the most overused catch phrases in television history have come from the popular 80s sitcom "Full House." Just mention this show and three phrases will come to mind: Uncle Jesse saying, "Have mercy," Stephanie's very famous, "How rude!" and who could forget the adorable Michelle lifting up her little thumb and saying, "You got it dude!"
Then there is the nerdy and completely clumsy Steve Urkle on "Family Matters" who wore oversized glasses and suspenders to hold his jeans up past his waist. Not only does he have a strong love for Laura Winslow, but he also has that same kind of love for cheese, which is why his saying "Got any cheese?" got really old really fast. Unfortunately, this wasn't Steve's only overused saying. Any fan of the series will tell you that Steve is a bit on the clumsy side, and every time he did something bad, which was every episode, he would mutter the line, "Did I do that?"
Some might not consider Homer Simpson's popular "D'oh!" or Arnold's (of Diff'rent Strokes) very famous "Watchoo talkin' 'bout Willis?" and the Cheers crowd shouting "Norm!" everytime Norm walked into the bar as overused catch phrases. But these three definitely top the list because they were used in almost every episode of their respective shows.
There are a lot more overused catch phrases, but this was just a small list of the most popular ones that people are probably sick of having to listen to in almost every episode of their favorite television series.
