Pop superstar Madonna is the "perfect mum" to Malawian tot David Banda - according to the adoption official overseeing their case.

The singer and her husband, Guy Ritchie, were visited by social worker Simon Chisdale at their London home earlier this year, and were reported to have been given approval earlier this month to make the two-year-old part of their family.

The couple took Banda back to Britain from the African nation last year, and Chisdale gave the pair a glowing report, describing Madonna as "a perfect mum for David... a confident and able parent."

Ritchie was described as having formed a "warm, playful interaction" with Banda.

The adoption could be officially granted by a Malawian court in April next year.
