Eva GreenThe producers of hit new family fantasy film The Golden Compass are heading for a huge clash with the Catholic church over future installments of the fantasy franchise, according to one of the movie's stars.

The Catholic League of America called for a boycott of the first film - based on Philip Pullman's novel - claiming it promotes atheism.

The story takes place in a fantasy world where the heroes battle against an evil organization many have interpreted to be based on the Catholic Church.

And former Bond girl Eva Green, who stars in the film, insists more clashes between church and studio are to come.

She tells the New York Post, "The religion is quite diluted in the first one, but, as it goes on, I think they can't really avoid it because that's what it is - it's all about God. So, good luck to the studio with Book 3."
