Scottish actor James McAvoy has confirmed he's a skilled confectioner after learning the craft in a bakery as part of an apprenticeship. The myth of McAvoy's past has spiraled in recent months, with reports suggesting the 28-year-old Becoming Jane star was a master baker - but he insists he just decorated cakes.

He explains, "I was like the apprentice confectioner. The other guy did all the hard stuff, and I would come in and put the cream and the little kiwi fruit on the top. It was great fun - cakes and tarts and gateaux and all that."
