Actor Owen Wilson feared never landing a movie role again after his performance in the 1996 movie Bottle Rocket was panned by critics. Wilson - who co-wrote the movie with director pal Wes Anderson - received the worst results of any Columbia Pictures test preview ever.
And although it initially widely judged to be a flop, it has since become a cult hit.
Anderson says, "Owen thought we were all washed up. He thought it was over. I remember him saying that we had to quickly look for work in advertising, which I really did not want to do. He also kept saying that we needed to distance ourselves from the movie.
"And I'm like, 'How are we going to do that? We've both written it, I've directed it, and you're in pretty much every scene. That seems a pretty tall order.'"
